Greetings!
Insights in India is a blog written by three graduate biomedical engineering students in the Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (CBID) program at Johns Hopkins University. The blog will capture and share our experience as we interface with the health care system in India.
Our team will be looking to understand the dynamics of anemia screening in India. Complications of moderate-severe anemia are particularly dangerous during pregnancy. Globally 100,000 maternal deaths and 600,000 neonatal deaths are attributable to anemia each year. Both a lack of awareness and compliance are associated with the high mortality rates in developing countries. We're hoping to save lives by implementing technologies capable of anemia screening early in pregnancy so that at-risk mothers can seek treatment.
Thanks for joining us on our adventure!
Kevin, Josh, and Ashley
